SAILING PROGRAMS

Why YOU Should Learn to Sail

Sailing is the perfect activity for anyone who enjoys a challenge. No other sport combines the challenges of physical activity, agility, mental acuity, and teamwork with the traditions of our maritime heritage, the sea and our overall environment. It is a life sport – one you can enjoy today and fifty years from now!

Sailing is also a tremendous sport for kids. Self-esteem is just the beginning. Learning to handle a small boat in all types of conditions fosters self-confidence, character, agility, spatial awareness, discipline, teamwork, and knowledge of the world around them. Perhaps most importantly, sailing can provide a child with balance – time away from phones and social media, alone time or time to hang out with friends, doing “kid stuff.” Who can argue with that?

Sailing can be exciting or relaxing. You can compete in racing or take a leisurely sail with family and friends. Regardless of age, ability or limitation, sailing has something for everyone. It’s said that you can learn the basics of sailing with a few hours of instruction. But truthfully, learning to sail never ends! To know what to do on a sailboat under any conditions is the fun, beauty and challenge of sailing and what makes it the perfect life-long skill.
